ARTHUR ISIDRO MERINO, 84, Lisle, IL., passed away peacefully on the morning of October 17th, 2015. Art was born in Manilla, Philippines in 1931, and graduated from University of the East with an Accounting Degree in 1952. He married the love of his life in 1957, and then courageously left his homeland to move his family to the United States in 1974, settling in Chicago near his brother Ros (who preceded him to the States). Art later moved his family to Oak Lawn, IL in 1977, and Lisle, IL in 1991. Art proudly worked as a CPA throughout his life for numerous companies in the Chicago area. Art loved traveling (especially to Europe), sports cars, classic movies, crooners (Frank & Dean), excelling at work, and enjoying good food and conversations with his family. He deeply loved his wife of 50 years, and lamented greatly at her loss in 2007. Throughout his wonderful life he remained a devout Catholic, devoted husband, doting father, hard worker, and loving Grandfather. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco & Rosario (Isidro) Merino, his wife Aurora (Lintag) Merino, and his brothers Narding Merino, Ruding Merino, Ros Merino and Fernando Merino. He is survived by his children, Paris (& Mitos) Merino, Tinley Park, IL and Christine (& Shane) Sims, Plainfield, IL. Art is also survived by four grandchildren (Amy & Michele Merino and Isabella & Greyson Sims).
Art's wake to be held at Thornridge Funeral Home, 14318 S. LaGrange Rd, Orland Park, IL on Friday October 23rd from 4 to 9 pm. Funeral Saturday, October 24th, 9:15 a.m. from Thornridge Funeral Home to St. Elizabeth Seton Church Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Good Shepherd Cemetery. A Celebration of Life luncheon at Papa Joe's Italian Cuisine Restaurant 14459 S. LaGrange Rd, Orland Park, IL. will be held at 12:00 p.m.
