Arthur A. Nylen, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, late of Calumet City, formerly of South Holland. Beloved husband for 64 blessed years of Beverly D. (née Blatt); devoted father of Thomas (late Catherine), Michael (Cindy), Robert (Gay), Terri Ann Nylen, and Mary Lou (Brian) Gutrich; loving grandfather of 11 and dear great-grandfather of 4; dearest brother of the late William G. Nylen and Rose Pett; kind uncle of several nieces and nephews. Ordained a Permanent Deacon in 1984, Director of Social Ministry from 1995 - 2011. Member of the Holy Name Society, Minister of Care, Eucharist Minister at St. Jude the Apostle Church in South Holland. 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Genoa Council. 3rd Degree Knight of Peter Claver. Past member of Catholic Charities Southside Advisory board. First co-recipient of Catholic Charities Compassion in Action Award, in 2003. Member of the Village of South Holland Central Committee. Visitation Friday, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at THORNRIDGE FUNERAL HOME (Janusz Family Funeral Service), 15801 S. Cottage Grove Ave., four blocks North of 162nd St. (Rte. 6) Dolton / South Holland. Lying-in-state Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 900 E. 154th Street, South Holland. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
