Barbara Jean Maleczka (née Obarski), age 90, passed away on February 27th, 2024. A 56 year resident of South Holland, IL, she was born and raised in South Chicago. Barbara worked at Avenue Medical Lab for 27 years and South Holland Physical Therapy for 10 years. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert Sr. and sister Carol Hanson (née Obarski). She is survived by her children Robert Jr. (Cynthia) of DeWitt, MI, Richard (Patricia) of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Jim of South Holland, IL. She was a loving grandmother to Robert III, Jack, Kristin, and Ricky, and a dear aunt of Gary (Pam), Greg, John (Deann), and Forest (Paula). Barbara was an avid reader and adventurous traveler from a young age. In her later years, she enjoyed the friendships made through her frequent visits to the South Holland Community Center. Last, but not least, she was a lover of fine gin martinis.
