Donald Peter Schlagheck

With fond memories and warm hearts, we remember Donald Peter Schlagheck, age 84, of Palos Park and formerly of Canton, MI, who passed away recently leaving a legacy of love, faith, and family.

Donald was the devoted husband of Ritamae (née Reinhart) and a loving father to Angela Schlagheck and Kristin (Joseph) Gonzalez. He was an exceptionally proud grandpa to Maeve, Jürgen Gonzalez, and Anaïs Gonzalez. Donald is also remembered with deep affection by his brother, Robert (Patty) Schlagheck, his nephew, Robert Schlagheck Jr., and grandniece Harper. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew him, including his faithful four-legged companion, Princess Ginger.

Throughout his life, Don was deeply grounded in his community and faith. Together with Rita, he was an active member of St. John Neumann Church in Canton, MI, as well as the Knights of Columbus. Prior to enjoying a well-earned retirement, Donald devoted many years of dedicated service to DTE Energy.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Donald’s life during a memorial visitation on Sunday, August 16, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Thornridge Funeral Home (Janusz Family Funeral Service), located at 14318 S. LaGrange Road, Orland Park.
