Dorothy Rose Basta (née Laskowski), age 85, passed away on June 5, 2025. She was the most loving wife of 45 years to John Basta.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Lottie Laskowski and the step-daughter of the late Eleonore Laskowski and the most loving daughter-in-law of the late John and Olga Basta. She was the sister of Bob (Loretta) Laskowski and the late Leonard (Carol) Laskowski and sister-in-law of Elaine (Tom) Nespeca.

Dorothy expressed much love as an aunt to Maria (Walter) Cook; Elizabeth (Sean) Davis; John (Lindsay) Nespeca; Tim (Sera) Laskowski; Linda Laskowski-Pianto; Steven (Karen) Laskowski and their numerous children.

Dorothy had an on-going friendship of 65 years with her alumni from Lourdes High School, Class of 1958. She was a proud member of 10 plus years with the St. Michael Parish Contemporary Ensemble Choir. Dorothy was a dedicated employee of 35 years with Sun Chemical (Clearing Branch) working as a Human Resources Associate.

Dorothy enjoyed weekly bowling for 15 years after high school as well as participating in bowling tournaments throughout the United States. Her love for the Chicago White Sox prompted her attendance at numerous home and away games. She was truly the epitome of an avid White Sox Fan!

Dorothy suffered two strokes and spent many days in recovery in hospitals and rehab centers, gathering strength to live with John in their Orland Park home, suffering from dementia but always expressing much love and happiness to everyone with her contagious smile and personality.
