Obituary

Elodia "Gloria" Villanueva, born in January of 1943, was called home to Jesus on February 15, 2021. She was reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Gonzalo H. Villanueva, of 52 years at the time of his passing. Also waiting to embrace her, were her parents, Felipe and Petra Garcia and sisters, Mary Anne Garcia and Oralia Almanza.

Gloria was a tiny woman with a giant heart, who loved her early mornings with a cup of coffee. She loved strongly and deeply and was our greatest strength in our moments of weakness. She was a fighter and survivor of many battles in her life, but her most glorious and victorious one, was the battle of bringing up eleven (YES!! ELEVEN!!) strong headed children. In order, Velma (Michael) Charles, Alberto (Irma) Villanueva, Victoria (David) Rodriguez, Roberto (Roxanna) Villanueva, Rolando (Beverly) Villanueva, Noe (Peter) Villanueva, Lisa (George) Miller, Cynthia (Steven) Thurn, Kimberly Villanueva, Martha (Martin) Padilla, and Marcos Villanueva. Not too long after her own children, came a rolling wave of thirty two grandchildren!  All who shared the common childhood goal of making sure they grew to be taller than her. The grandchildren then blessed her with the title of great grandma of forty five great grandchildren! She just liked to be called grandma though, because saying great grandma "made her sound old." She also leaves behind her loving sisters Lupe Olivarez, Bertha Torres, Margarita Yruegas, Olga Gonzales, Mary Ellen Mendoza, Lucia Almanza, and Estella Gutierrez.

Our beloved matriarch leaves her mark on this world with a small village of people who will forever miss everything about her. As she passes through the door that leads her from our arms to solely our hearts and memories, we want her to leave knowing we will be ok and will do our best to make her proud. We love you, and as always "con cuidado."
