Katherine A. "Kitty" Burns (neé Kutaj), age 77, late of South Holland, formerly of Posen, passed away at her home, surrounded by loved ones on January 28, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Gerald E. "Gerry" Burns; devoted mother of Michael (Christine) Pettit, Mary (Scott) King, and John (Atrice) Burns; loving sister of Alice (Dan) Dziadon, Dorothy (Tim) Conley, Ann (Ed) Gallagher, Rose (Terry) Wiley, and the late Alex Kutaj; proud Grandma Kitty to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear sister-in-law of the late Eugene (Lucille) Burns and Eileen (Phil) Wengel; cherished Auntie Kitty of many nieces and nephews; treasured stepmother of seven; dearest friend and companion of Jim Kelly.

Graduate of the first class of Our Mother of Sorrows in 1958, Kitty was an extremely talented seamstress, artist, gardener, long-time member of the Holy Ghost Sanctuary Guild, and frequent volunteer for numerous school-related functions. Kitty was a generous spirit who was a true treasure to everyone she met; a gem.

Visitation Friday, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 10:15 a.m. from Thornridge Funeral Home (Janusz Family Funeral Service), 15801 S. Cottage Grove Ave. (four blocks north of 162nd St., Rte 6), Dolton/South Holland to Holy Ghost Church Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment private.
