Richard Jaworowski's Obituary
Richard Jaworowski ("Mr. J") passed away on June 30, 2021, at the age of 78. He was born in Chicago and was the eldest child of George and Mary (Docherty) Jaworowski. He married his best friend, Roberta (Ricchio) in 1968, and they had three daughters: Lauren (John) Henzel, Janet (Bob) Palkon, and Emilee (Jason) Biegel. Along with his wife and children, he is survived by his grandchildren: Michael, MaryKate, Caroline, Eleanor, Kaitlyn, George, Owen, and most recently, Robert, Daniel, and Francis; his siblings, Dan (Suzy), LeRoy (Robbin), and Linda; his sister-in-law, Roslyn (Paul) Modzelewski; nephews and nieces: Josh Jaworowski, Aaron Jaworowski, Adam Jaworowski, Jason Jaworowski, Monica Minogue, Melanie Beccaccio, and Melissa Adams; lifelong friend, Don (Mary) Slota; and fellow Chicago White Sox fan, Tom Utrata. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James; his infant grandson, Edward, and his dear friend, Sr. Catherine Morrison, C.N.D.
He served as a teacher in the Archdiocese of Chicago for over 40 years. Most of his teaching career was spent at the former St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School in South Holland, Illinois with his final few years of teaching at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Homewood, Illinois. He was affectionately called "Mr. J" by the countless students that he influenced and mentored. He had a passion for teaching and especially enjoyed discussing current events with his students and connecting historical events to present times. He recognized the best traits in every student and instilled in each one the desire to succeed. To supplement his teaching income, over the years, Richard took a variety of second jobs. From ice cream truck vendor to park district camp director to real estate broker to high school junior varsity basketball coach, he engaged with others and made many new friends along the way. After teaching, his greatest joy came from his employment with Standard Parking as a parking lot supervisor at countless sporting and entertainment venues in Chicago, most especially, at the corner of 33rd and Wentworth. Although he had been in failing physical health for several years, his mind remained sharp and focused on the world and events in it. He was a man of strong faith who had a deep appreciation of the Mass and celebration of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. He enjoyed weekly recitations of the Rosary with friends at his retirement village. As his many friends and family members can attest, he remained a passionate fan of the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel, 11300 West 97th Lane,

St. John, Indiana 46373. Fr. Timothy P. Andres, O. Carm. will offer prayers at the visitation. Bishop Ronald A. Hicks will celebrate Mass on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 880 E. 154th Street, South Holland, Illinois. A public visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. until the start of Mass. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research at https://www.v.org/home-main/
