Robert Allen "Bob" Vanderborg, age 77, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at home in Dolton surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Patricia nee Turner for 57 years. Loving father of James "Jim" (Tammy) Vanderborg, William "Bill" (Barb Yocum) Vanderborg, Timothy "Timmy" (Tina) Vanderborg, Margaret "Peggy" (Kevin) Mallek, and the late Richard Vanderborg and Robert "Bobby" Vanderborg, Jr. Proud grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of many. Kind son of the late Henry and Katherine Vanderborg. Dear brother of Arlene (Roy) Barnes, and the late Hank Vanderborg and brother-in-law of Nancy Vanderborg and Charlotte "Char" Loomis. Uncle and close friend of many. Bob was a lifelong resident of Dolton where he and Patricia raised their family. He was an incredibly hard working and dedicated man, and he never met a stranger. Bob had a passion for fishing, tending to his "animals", camping at Kentucky Lake, and spending time with his family. Visitation Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Thornridge Funeral Home (Janusz Family Funeral Service), 15801 S. Cottage Grove Ave., four blocks North of 162nd St. (Rte. 6) Dolton/ South Holland. Interment private.
