Obituary

Rose Marie Follenweider (née King), 74, passed away peacefully at home, on 12/14/2024 with her family by her side, after living her "Dash" and after a courageous battle with a nasty leukemia, TPLL. Rose is survived by her husband of 55 years, Daniel Follenweider, her two wonderful children, Joseph (Lynda) Follenweider and Carrie Gath; brother Allen (Debbie) King; sister Carolyn (Brian) Whiteford; sisters-in-law Kelly (Michael) Dauksas and Helen (Karl) Yost. Her favorite role was Grandma Rose (Nana) to Joshua, Jake, Jordan Rose, Addison Rose and Anthony, she was a fun aunt to Tony (Kristen), Kristen, Ryan (Brittney), Shaun (Jessica), Olivia (Colin), Katelyn (Daniel), Laura, Erin, Carly, Amanda (Stephen) and Noah. Rose was loved and will be missed by her friends, especially 'Yayas' Cindy, Debbie, Diane, Julie, Linda, and Nikki who have been an important part of her life. Rose was fortunate to have a career affiliated with unions that allowed her both a comfortable (though shortened) retirement and the satisfaction of serving members at the Illinois Central Hospital Association and IUOE Local 399. Rose was the highlight of any group she joined and was known for her acts of kindness, she enjoyed volunteering at Sunny Hill nursing home and was a proponent of blood donation. Rose would ask that you do an act of kindness in her memory. In addition, the family would ask that everyone learn more about stem cell transplant (a treatment that might have benefited Rose) at Bethematch.org, https://www.nmdp.org/get-involved/join-the-registry consider donating your stem cells or donating blood, in Rose's honor.
